Questions pg. 371 and pg.385
1. Yes i believe that the technique gave me a very good idea of what the article is on, because the first paragraph introduced the article to me and the ending paragraph finished the main idea. The middle just summarized the details for me and put the picture all together.
2. It is important to know that Light man is a scientist because he has knowledge on this subject, If he was an any other job it would be based on opinion of that one person and would not have as many facts. The fact that he is a scientist is very important to the subject matter.
3. Light man is using a light tone. In the last paragraph he uses phrases to show that what he is saying is true and not forcing you to believe it but also to show a different perspective.
pg. 385
1. The fact that Gould used evolutionary fact to back up the belief in evolution. He states that the apple fell from the tree and explains it how newton did. Looking at the world gives us facts that we use now that can further us in science.
2. Some inferences that Gould uses is newton looking at an apple. Looking at this apple he thought of gravitation. With the thought of gravitation he defines it and comes up with he the laws of gravity.
3. When he starts the story i was lost and did not have a clue of what he was talking about. Only as i read on did i start to understand what he meant.

Most of the children between 8-13 dont even have a clue of wha they are talking about when it comes to politics. They base there ideas from there parents or even the television. If there parents tell them one thing and are always talking about a certain candidate then thats what they will follow as well. Just as if a child that watches television all day, sees nothing but messages of a candidate then they will want to follow that candidate.

Since Orwell wrote this essay i believe the English language is in worst condition. In the past 60 years it has declined. One prime example of the misuse of the language is music, the music that is played on telivision and radio can sometimes change the pronunciation of word or the spelling.
What Orwell wrote to describe how to improve language is old and written a long time ago. It is hard to understand and would be better if it was rewritten as new. Maybe thats what Orwell meant, how if our understanding of the english language was still good this essay would be better understandable.

Where did we come from?
This is one of the most debatable questions ever. Forget about all other myths or beliefs because they do not compare to this one. If you ask this question to different people you will get a variety of answers. Most people have a religion that they believe in, while others believe in other things. Some even believe that evolution played the role in our creation. So where did we come from? Whatever the answer may be, most people have their belief and they stick by that belief no matter what. Those who follow a certain religion refuse to incorporate any other ideas into their belief.
It is extremely hard to name all religions that are out in the world today. Some have dated back centuries and others are new to us. But if there are so many different beliefs which one is right? This question is impossible to answer because if a person is asked this, they will always answer that their religion is the right one. Indeed there are many religions but some have similar views and beliefs. For example Christians, Catholics, Mormons, Muslims and Jews all believe in God. But Christians and Catholics believe that Jesus Christ was the greatest of all god prophets. However Christianity is different from Catholicism because they do not follow the bible the same as Catholics. Then you have the Mormons who follow the bible to the point. Muslims on the other hand believe Muhammad was the greatest prophet and Jews believe Moses was the greatest. There we have five different religions, yet they are somewhat similar. So if they are similar in some way why do people refuse to accept each other’s beliefs and that we all came from god?
Some people have come to believe that we have evolved over the years and that there is no god. The people that believe this theory are called evolutionist. For years they have done research and studies trying to prove that we have evolved from primates. They follow the belief that as the world evolved so did the creatures in it. Evolutionist research has shown that our DNA is almost identical to that of primates, as well as our features. They have even found fossils and well preserved remains of primates which has given evolutionist more evidence to there belief. The remains show that primates evolved and changed to adapt in the environment. So does this mean that we are are just well evolved primates?
Our beliefs have even played a role on society for centuries. Humans have been going to war with each other because of religion for as long as we can remember. From roman times, to the crusades, to the beginning of America. It seems as every time there is a dispute between beliefs there has to be a war to resolve it. The group that usually wins the war tends to dominate in society with there belief. Why cant each side just except the fact that thats what they believe? People are never going to believe in the same thing all the time, so there is no need to have people dying for an unintentional cause.
So where did we come from? Are we made in gods image, or evolved from primates? Who was the greater prophet, Jesus, Moses, or Mohamed? The evidence is to inconclusive to know the exact truth. As soon as one belief says they are the right one, another says that they are as well. We will never know which religion is true, or even if evolution is really where we came from. People will just have to believe in what they want to, and try to understand that others believe in different things.

J-Do you believe humans evolved from apes?
C-No i do not believe this to be true.
J-Where do u believe Humans came from?
C-God
J-Why is this the belief you follow?
C-I grew up believing this.
J-So do you think if you were not brought up like this your belief would be different?
C-No, because all other beliefs are not reasonable to me.
J-Explain.
C-I read the bible and that is what i believe.
J-So how do you feel about all the evolutionist?
C-I believe they are wrong in what they believe and they should read a bible.
J-Have u seen the fossils archaeologists have found underground of ancient apes?
C-Yes
J-What do you think of that?
C-That doesn't prove that humans have evolved from apes it just proves that the fossils were apes
J-How do you feel about the scientific test that proves there genes are closest to ours?
C-that does not prove anything either, a lot of animals have similar genes to ours.
J-thank you for your time
C-Thank you

Amabile started a 12,000 daily journal entry from 238 people working on creative projects in seven different companies. She wanted to get inside of peoples heads and find out how they have creative breakthroughs. It was designed to "look at creativity in the wild".
Bill Breen's audience is mangers and leaders in the work office. This is shown when he addresses them in the beginning and end of the article.

Champions
I was going into my senior year of high school and I had just transferred into a new school. It was tough enough transferring in to a school where I did not know anyone. But I also had a lot of pressure on my back because I was projected to help the team win many games during the season.
The fall season came around and all was well, we played many games and I was pitching pretty good. We lost a few games but it didn’t really matter to us because we had yet to begin practicing and still not at our full potential. We soon began to near the end of the fall season and that was when I started to feel slight pain in my elbow. I thought nothing of the continues pain, to me it felt more like soreness and I played threw it. That was a mistake. What I should have done was report it to either the coach or the trainer.
Turns out the pain I had was due to bone spurs and inflammation. The doctor said I was not going to be able to play, at least the beginning of the season. The second half of the season although, was still questionable which kept my hopes high. So I decided right then and there to do everything in my power to recuperate and return for the second half of the season. The following week I began to wake up at five in the morning to run at school. Just because I could not throw did not mean I could not stay in shape for when I returned. It was tuff though because at that time it was still dark and there was nobody at school. It was just me and the track, nobody to watch me or accompany me. Then I would go to school and attend practice. After practices when everybody left home I did not, I stayed and worked out even longer, again with nobody else in sight.
I continued to follow that same workout for the next month. When I returned and was able to play again I was in better shape than before. I was throwing harder, and lasting longer. I even lost weight, which impressed the scouts because I was more slender. We finished all of our games and I had the greatest season of my high school career only playing half the season.
That is why my belief was changed and now I agree with what the coach has been telling us all along. I now believe that champions are made when nobody is watching. I learned from personal experiences that it is true, and if any athlete were to ask me I would tell them just as my coach told me.

Bush's Border Fence Faces More Trouble
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration needs an extra $400 million to complete its fence along the country's southwestern border, and government investigators say that may not even be enough to finish construction by the end of this year.
Journal Entry #2
This essay is compelling in my eyes because it seems to be straight from the heart and completely honest. The story this writer used was when hurricane Katrina rampaged threw her home town, New Orleans. The tone she uses is serious mixed with some reflection type of tone. She achieves this by dueling on her past experiences and how they affected and changed her life.
LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST
To me this essay is compelling because going threw a tornado is a scary situation. Something like that will definitely be a life changing experience. She already has an idea about how life is not based on property or objects, but uses the tornado to emphasize how it made her realize it even more. The tone used in this essay is also some what serious.
The two essays are similar because they both use past experiences to show how it has changed their future. Both the authors also use the similar tones in their writings. They are different although because in A Different Kind Of Hero she realizes that she is a hero after the fact that Hurricane Katrina hit. In Living Life To The Fullest she knew what she believed before the tornado hit. Both essays follow the guidelines described in the instructions.

journal entry 1
in this letter to her i used a poetic type of genre.
I chose to write to her because i could not travel over and speak in person.
My purpose in writing this letter to her was to let her know that i still have feelings for and think about her all the time. I feel as if i did accomplish my goal of informing her.
I have been in a relationship with her for 2 years, and she would be the only audience to read the letter.
Thinking of this letter i wrote is different from others because this letter was a love letter. This was not an essay or a response to a prompt. I wrote my true feelings on that note that would be sent hundreds of miles away. Although one of the rhetorical situation i faced was that she might not have the same feelings as me, or if there is a greater audience than just her.
